FAQ
Nurses
- We are hiring nurses who have recent nursing experience working on: medical units, surgical units, emergency, ICU, OR, LDR, PACU, long-term care, psychiatry and community programs.
- There are opportunities available to work in a permanent part-time GoHealth BC nursing position or in a casual GoHealth BC nursing position, regardless of your place of residence in Canada, provided you are registered with BCCNM to practice nursing in BC.
- Two years’ nursing experience.
Medical Laboratory Technologists
- We are hiring medical laboratory technologists (MLTs) with recent experience in Biochemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine.
- Must have or be eligible for CSMLS registration.
- Two years' experience
GoHealth BC uses a self-scheduling model that provides flexibility for employees to schedule their shifts 6 times a year in 2-month increments. Staff will potentially work in the locations they prefer and in the specialty areas they are skilled in.
- 0.53 FTE = approximately 1,033.5 hours per year
- 0.69 FTE = approximately 1,345.5 hours per year
- 0.84 FTE = approximately 1,638 hours per year
Permanent staff receive medical, dental, and extended health care coverage plus long-term disability, life insurance, and are eligible for the municipal pension plan.
- Casual staff can book deployments with GoHealth BC that are 8 days or longer.
- Casual staff are requested to work a minimum of 400 hours per calendar year.
- Upon the completion of 172.8 hours, casual staff are eligible to purchase medical, dental, and extended health benefit plans.
Nurses
BC nurses have the highest wages in Canada, as per the BCNU wage grid plus applicable shift premiums. To obtain credit from previous nursing experience, we will need letters from your previous employer(s) on letterhead, noting position held, dates of employment, and total number of hours worked. Please see the BCNU NBA contract for more details.
MLTs
MLTs wages are as per the HSPBA wage schedule D, plus applicable shift premiums. This is for base line pay only, all shift premiums are outlined in the contract. We will need the same information for any out of province applicants.
Go Health BC employees will be compensated on travel days based on the following:
- Average length of travel up to 4 hours = 4 hours paid at straight time
- 4+ hours to 8 hours of travel = 8 hours paid at straight time
- 8+ hours of travel = 12 hours paid at straight time
- Travel hours will be counted towards FTE.
- GoHealth BC covers flights, ferries, car rentals, or mileage equivalency.
- GoHealth BC employees will receive meals per diem for each day they are away from their home community while working a travel block.
- A NH fleet vehicle or rental car is provided during your stay in the travel community.
- Accommodation is provided at the travel location (ideally with a kitchenette).
