Port McNeill

Region
Island Health
Location
North Island, Vancouver Island, BC

Located on Vancouver Island's Northeast shore on Queen Charlotte Strait, Port McNeill was originally a base camp for loggers. It became a settlement in 1936. Known as the gateway to the gloriously scenic islands, protected spaces, and mazy waterways of the Broughton Archipelago, Port McNeill is a grade A steppingstone to outdoor adventure. Its location (a two-hour drive from Campbell River, or four hours from the ferry terminals in Nanaimo) and close proximity to the East Coast's finest island gems make it a regional center for ecotourism. Activities include wildlife viewing, whale watching, grizzly bear safaris, diving, sea kayaking, and fresh and saltwater fishing.
