Dease Lake is surrounded by some of the most spectacular and pristine wilderness in BC. The community was originally a Hudson's Bay Company trading post, established in 1837 by Robert Campbell. Remains of the old Hudson Bay post still stand at the south end of the lake. Today, Dease Lake (population 400) offers full services for travelers, as well as guide/outfitting, boat, canoe, and ATV rentals, and helicopter tours.
Dease Lake is known for its massive lake trout and Artic Grayling. Northern Pike and Rainbow Trout can also be caught in abundance here. Located on the continental divide, Dease Lake is a playground for those interested in the outdoors. Endless hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, paddling, quadding, and hiking adventures await one in this region.
Dease Lake is a rural and isolated community. There is no cell service and limited services in the community. Despite this, Dease Lake has a lot to offer. Many residents work in local government services, for the Tahltan Band, or mines in the region.
